"Bill Gates will invest most of his $200 billion in health and education in Africa"

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has announced that he will spend most of his nearly $200 billion fortune on health and education in Africa over the next 20 years. He has previously said he will donate 99 percent of his wealth before he dies. As part of the decision, he said at an event at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, that “every country in Africa can move forward on the path to prosperity if people are empowered through health and education.”

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has long been working in Africa to improve primary health care, reduce maternal and child mortality, combat infectious diseases and alleviate poverty. Gates said that this work will be further strengthened in the future. He told young innovators that using artificial intelligence (AI) can improve healthcare, such as in Rwanda, where AI-based ultrasound technology is being used to detect high-risk pregnancies.

Bill Gates's initiative has been welcomed by African leaders. However, some critics claim that the Gates Foundation is exerting undue influence in the global health sector and is being used as a means of tax avoidance. However, Gates said that he was inspired by other philanthropists, including Warren Buffett.
